Luncheon
Address to The Canadian Institute Conference
The Case of the Disappearing Nurses
We all recognize,
I am certain, that small- and medium-sized
businesses in the offshore oil and gas industry
must be quick-witted, on target, and fast-moving
to acquire the new technology and new skills
to stay ahead of the curve. We also agree
that technological innovation is required
to increase productivity and maintain competitiveness.
Ensuring that Atlantic
Canada's oil and gas industry is the supplier
of choice for offshore oil and gas development
in Canada and throughout the world will
be accomplished only through innovation
of the highest order. And only through
smart partnerships created by small- and
medium-sized businesses, regional research
institutions, universities, and governments
will we achieve the level of innovation
necessary to accomplish our goals. The
challenge is daunting. The effort will
be great. The rewards will be immediate
and enduring.
