strategic plan of the Canadian Tourism Commission
is our map for such a route over the next
three years. It is the tool we will use
to plan and carry out a journey with ambitious
goals and a well-defined destination.
When the Canadian Tourism
Commission became a crown corporation,
we tackled several immediate priorities
and overcame many organisational hurdles.
Today, we face many new and serious challenges.
The devastating
effects of the September 11th attacks
on America are felt keenly in every corner
of our tourism industry. We must acknowledge
that travel patterns themselves may be
changing for the long-term as well as
the short. Our vision must accommodate
a broad view of all possible scenarios,
and we believe the plan set down in this
document does just that.
