"Reducing greenhouse gas emissions presents a business opportunity. It's a great personal honour to be here with people who not only recognize that opportunity, but have also moved to seize it. Progressive, forward-thinking people keen to invest in the future. People who understand that to ensure a bountiful harvest, one must first prepare the soil and water the crop.

I was born on a farm near Wilcox, Saskatchewan and grew up with a farmer's appreciation for the natural beauty of cycles-how one element leads without fail to the next. On our farm there was a cycle of seeding, harvesting and plowing; all of it linked to the cycle of the seasons.

I haven't worked a farm for many years, but I continue to marvel at the beauty of cycles. And today I feel I'm part of another cycle-the cycle of innovation."
